Spider Solitaire – 4 Suits

Four-suit Spider is the complete game: two full 52-card decks, all four suits, ten columns. It is widely regarded as the hardest mainstream Solitaire — even excellent players lose most deals without undo. Every move matters, and a single careless deal from the stock can end the game.

Surviving Four Suits

Play slowly. Before every move, ask what it uncovers and what it blocks. In-suit builds are worth far more than off-suit ones; an empty column is worth more than almost any single move, and undo is not cheating — it is how the game is studied.

Expect win rates in the single digits at first. If the full game is bruising, rebuild confidence in the 2-suit game and return.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good win rate at 4-suit Spider?

Without undo, anything above 10–15% is strong. With thoughtful use of undo, dedicated players reach 40% or more.

Any single most important tip?

Never deal from the stock while the table is disorganized. Each deal buries every column under a random card — tidy first, deal second.

This deal cannot be finished. The moves that are left would only shift cards about without uncovering anything new.
